The Scientific hub of Gas Refining of Shiraz University was established in 2001 by Professor Mohammad Reza Rahimpour. The hub of Gas Refining was selected as the top research hub of the country in 2008 due to remarkable activities in science and industry. The goals of this research center are to:

  • expand the frontiers of knowledge and science
  • organize scientific and technological communities
  • development of interdisciplinary investigations and science production
  • participation in national and international scientific research in order to improve science production and technology development

EOR Research Center is a multidisciplinary research center at Shiraz University with a focus on cutting edge studies on "Enhanced Oil Recovery" techniques, from pore scale to field scale. We conduct various fundamental and theoretical-based research projects with especial attention to requirements of the oil industry based on four main topics:

• Water/Gas EOR Techniques, mechanisms and challenges, from pore scale to field scale

• Asphaltene Precipitation & Deposition

• Environmental EOR Challenges

• Geomechanics/Geochemical in EOR

Our members are the faculty and staff from the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Shiraz University but we have collaboration with other departments as well as other national and international universities and research centers worldwide.

The Environment and Biotechnology research center has been established since 2007 by Professor Dariush Mowla. The most important goal of this center is to investigate the environmental issues and pollution problems resulted from oil, gas and petrochemical industry and to propose novel methods to remove pollution from industrial wastes, exhaust gases and soil. Considering the problems caused by drought and shortage of drinking and industrial water in recent years, the main research investigation is focused on designing and application of new waste water treatment methods. The other research scope of this center is to transform greenhouse gases especially carbon dioxide to valuable chemicals like methane, formic acid and formaldehyde, biodiesel production from wastes, synthesis of new photocatalysts for waste water treatment, elimination of microplastics and micropollutants from industrial wastes etc.
