Shiraz University as a public university was founded in 1946. Later, the College of Engineering was established in shiraz university in 1954. Being one of the oldest and most prestigious modern universities in Iran, Shiraz University is listed among the top three research-oriented schools in the nation according to a ranking of Iranian universities based on scientific output. The school consists of three departments including Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering and Gas Engineering. The Chemical Engineering Department as one of the oldest departments in Iran, was established in 1967 mainly to train experts for oil, gas and petrochemical industries. The Petroleum Engineering and Gas Engineering Departments were added to the school in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
The School of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at Shiraz University, Iran is one of the oldest national academic unit with a great reputation in providing high quality educational and research services. We claim our excellence in building an active network of collaboration with well-known national/international universities and research centers, and preparation of a professional academic environment that attract creative and susceptible students. This was the reason to see the school has been always ranked among top 5% of successful engineering schools in Iran. Central laboratory of petroleum, analysis and water microbiology, computer center and conference halls equipped with advanced audiovisual facilities are examples from special facilities within School of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at Shiraz University.
Our motto is ‘Quality First' and we dedicate our time and efforts to stay on the path of highest possible quality of research and education. That is why we care about providing high quality services to the industry specially to support the chain of energy and materials, from extraction and exploitation of raw materials to valuable end products. In undergraduate programs, students are admitted in both chemical engineering and petroleum engineering. The school also offers a range of course-research based graduate programs at master and PhD degree levels in process design, process control, environmental engineering, gas processing and transportation, polymer, energy, separation, catalyst, production engineering, and hydrocarbon reservoirs.
