Petroleum Engineering Program
Petroleum Engineering Program
- Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering
Demand for energy continues to grow, and oil and gas play a dominant role in this business. The Reservoir Engineering program within the Department of Petroleum Engineering prepares students to meet the challenges that face this industry. The undergraduate program aims to prepare students to meet challenges and to assure graduates can apply the engineering principles to uncover more efficient and cost-effective solutions. It provides the regional and global oil and gas industries with highly educated engineers who can utilize their in-depth knowledge of engineering to better develop business opportunities. It emphasizes the importance of ethical conduct, health, safety and environmental issues. The proposed BSc program has the following objectives:
- Assure that the graduates can apply the engineering principles to uncover more efficient, environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions to the development of oil and natural gas resources.
- Provide the regional and global oil and gas industries with highly educated engineers who can utilize their in-depth knowledge of reservoir engineering to better develop business opportunities.
- Prepare the graduates to go on for further education in Master programs.
- Emphasize the importance of ethical conduct, health, safety and environmental issues.
Upon completion of the BSc degree in Reservoir Engineering, graduates will be able to:
- Evaluate reservoirs using reservoir description and modeling techniques
- Offer optimum operating conditions for primary and improved recovery schemes using the reservoir rock and fluids properties as well as the expected reservoir behavior
- Manage the process of oil and gas production and give practical ideas to protect the production facilities
- Assess the enhanced oil recovery projects, both technically and economically
- Evaluate the impact of various EOR processes on the environment and recommend practical strategies to protect it.
- Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering
This program provides the graduate students with necessary scientific/technical knowledge and helps them understand different aspects of reservoir engineering in-depth. The proposed M.Sc. program has the following objectives:
- Deliver high-quality lectures given by our expert faculty members in the related fields.
- Introduce state-of-the-art research methodology in fields, which are of high local and global interest.
- Solve industrial research challenges of the related industries.
- Create a superior perspective of reservoir engineering challenges by exposing graduate students to interdisciplinary fields such as chemical engineering, nanotechnology, and surface science.
- Assure that graduate students can be part of any academic or technical organization and that can identify issues of interest with confidence.
- Assure that graduates can present technical material orally and in writing.
- Prepare graduates for admission to top graduate programs in the world.
- Motivate graduates to be engaged in continuous professional development and leadership, through individual effort and advanced professional education.
By completing our M.Sc. program, graduates are able to:
- Understand the physics of related problems and to identify new academic/industrial challenges.
- Propose methodology to systematically tackle challenging problems and to present the outcome professionally.
- Present themselves with confidence to academic/technical professionals.
- Demonstrate a solid background of related to public relations, covering the fundamentals of communication, economics, politics, and online experience.
- Lead, with an understanding of the broader ethical and societal impact of public relations, and the importance of diversity in the workforce.
- Function within multidisciplinary teams to accomplish goals that are of interest to the group collectively
- Show awareness of global, societal, humanitarian, and contemporary issues in their broader sense, including professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering
The graduate degree program provides the students with necessary scientific/technical knowledge and helps them understand different aspects of petroleum engineering. It aims to introduce state-of-the-art applied research methodology, solve industrial research challenges, create a superior perspective of reservoir engineering challenges by exposing graduate students to interdisciplinary fields such as chemical engineering, nanotechnology, and surface science. Upon completing the master and PhD degree programs in reservoir and production engineering, graduates will be able to understand the physics of related problems and to identify new academic/industrial challenges, propose methodology to systematically tackle challenging problems and to professionally present the outcome. They will demonstrate a solid background of related to public relations, covering the fundamentals of communication, economics, politics, and online experience. Our master degree and PhD graduates will have the opportunity to function within multidisciplinary teams to accomplish goals that are of interest to the group collectively. At the end of the day, it is expected to see graduates ready for admission in top global research programs.
