The Office of Education and Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering is the primary entity responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all educational matters in undergraduate and graduate programs. Currently, Dr. Payam Sotoudeh holds the position of Vice Dean for Education and Graduate Studies. The responsibilities of this office include:

  • Overseeing all educational activities of the departments following educational regulations, bylaws, and laws.
  • Managing all educational processes, including registration, course selection, graduation, etc.
  • Academic guidance for students and taking necessary actions regarding educational requests following regulations.
  • Supervising the approved educational content and curriculum, evaluating, revising, and updating it.
  • Regular evaluation of the educational activities of faculty members.
  • Communicating educational circulars and guidelines.
  • Providing the faculty's academic report every semester.

 

The Faculty Educational Council consists of four members: representatives from the Departments of Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Gas Engineering, with the Vice Dean for Education and Graduate Studies serving as the chair. Representatives are elected by their respective departments to serve on this council for a two-year term. The current members are:

  • Dr. Payam Sotoudeh, Vice Dean for Education and Graduate Studies
  • Dr. Fereydoon Esmaeilzadeh, Representative of the Chemical Engineering Department
  • Dr. Nasir Mehran Bod, Representative of the Gas Engineering Department
  • Dr. Meysam Mohammadzadeh Shirazi, Representative of the Petroleum Engineering Department

 

The key responsibilities of the Faculty Educational Council:

  • Reviewing student requests such as leave of absence, study opportunities, etc.
  • Addressing students' academic status based on reports from the educational departments.
  • Reviewing graduation reports of students.
  • Reviewing master's theses and doctoral dissertations of students.
  • Reviewing the status of research projects and defense requests of graduate students.
  • Providing opinions on matters referred to the council by the dean.
